With the world population nearing 7 billion people, the increasingly competitive nature of the global market seems only to be expected. It makes perfect sense that if you have something on your resume that makes you unique from the others applying for a job, your more likely to gain that employment and be paid more.
If we can somehow motivate people to become more developed, well rounded, and attractive to the markets, then this will help our economy greatly. It is for this reason that I agree that we need to help motivate people to become more developed and competitive workers.
I also agree that curiosity can be a huge motivator in making a person develop themselves. People who are curios tend to learn more easily and try new things, making them generally more rounded, interesting, and competitive in the workplace.
The internet is an extremely easy way to satisfy ones curiosity about most subjects, and it is an amazing tool almost anyone can use. It also presents many problems though, as there is more information on the internet then you could ever possibly want, and this can lead to distractions and or information overload. There is also the possibility that the information could be false, if it comes from non reputable sources, so we need to be careful.
