Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto is a very special piece to me. A few years ago, I attended its performance with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and I remember being emotionally struck as I never had before. The sweeping dynamics and virtuosic artistry were overwhelming, and for some reason I felt that I could really connect with the emotions that Prokofiev was trying to portray.
Student loan debt is in the trillions, and so some students have turned to more extreme earning strategies. One of these is renting out ones face for advertising. Several companies are now trying to help a broader group of students, though.
This is an amazing recording of an orchestral variation of Arnold Shoenberg’s Verklarte Nacht, one of his most beautiful works. Composed in 1899, it shows the beginnings of the Second Viennese Movement, the thought school he was to champion.

With the world population nearing 7 billion people, the increasingly competitive nature of the global market seems only to be expected. It makes perfect sense that if you have something on your resume that makes you unique from the others applying for a job, your more likely to gain that employment and be paid more.
If we can somehow motivate people to become more developed, well rounded, and attractive to the markets, then this will help our economy greatly. It is for this reason that I agree that we need to help motivate people to become more developed and competitive workers.
I also agree that curiosity can be a huge motivator in making a person develop themselves. People who are curios tend to learn more easily and try new things, making them generally more rounded, interesting, and competitive in the workplace.
The internet is an extremely easy way to satisfy ones curiosity about most subjects, and it is an amazing tool almost anyone can use. It also presents many problems though, as there is more information on the internet then you could ever possibly want, and this can lead to distractions and or information overload. There is also the possibility that the information could be false, if it comes from non reputable sources, so we need to be careful.
This is an very (I feel) accurate list of the most investive minds of our day. The link to CNNMoney is listed below.

Well, this week I’ve been reading up on two of the most influential composers of the 20th century. The first, Igor Stravinsky.
Stravinsky was born in 1882, in Oranienbaum, Russia. Despite his early enthusiasm for music, his parents expected him to become a lawyer. He enrolled in the University of Saint Petersburg in 1901, but attended far to few classes to be sucsessful there. In 1902, Stravinsky stayed with the legendary russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsikov.
He took private lessons from Korsikov until 1908, when Nikolai died. In 1909, his first works impressed Sergei Diaghilev, who was a major russian theater owner. Diaghilev commissioned Stravinsky to write his first full length ballet, based on the russian legend of the battle between the evil King Kastchei and the noble Firebird. This was to become one of Stravinsky’s most well known pieces, and is generally considered to have brought in the modern musical period, along with his The Rite Of Spring.
Stravinsky was one of the few great composers whos virtuosity for scoring was realized during his lifetime. Patronage was never too far away. In 1939, Stravinsky moved to America, right after his mother and first wife, whome he had been married to for 33 years, died.
Stravinsky settled in Los Angeles in West Hollywood. He lived near Arnold Shoenberg, although surprisingly he did not have a close relationship with him. While in LA, he had an interesting experience with the police. After hearing one of his unconventional 7th chord renditions of The Star Spangeled Bannner, police told him that they would impose a $100 fine on any “rearrangement of the Anthem, whole or part.”
Today we look back and can truly see Stravinsky’s inexhaustible desire to learn about the tranistional language between life and art. This is shown by his wide taste in literature, operatic works, and collaboration with Picasso, among other visual artists. He is truly of the great artists of the 20th century.
